EICMA 2016 - Press Release

New 400cc Development Model to debut in Milan

Scomadi will display a new 400cc development model at the annual EICMA show in Milan taking place 10th to 13th November (trade days 8th & 9th November). You can find us in Hall 10 on stand A71.

Scomadi in association with their European Distributor Mr Robert Olsthoorn recently made the acquisition of all of the necessary tooling and moulds for the Moto Morini 400cc short crankcase automatic scooter engine along with all of the IP and design rights. This will enable Scomadi to take further steps towards becoming self sufficient in engine supply for all their own machines.

The current engine design will be assessed and developed even further in order to update it from carburettor to fuel injection along with some extra performance gains.

The new 400 model should be available in 2018. This project is currently in progress with a hand built prototype as a test bed. The process of CAD modelling alongside rigorous testing is underway to move the prototype forward to mass production and to ensure it complies with the forthcoming Euro 4 regulations.

At last year’s EICMA Scomadi displayed a 250cc geared model. This model is currently evaluating alternative engines, one of the favoured choices is the latest high performance engine based on our current Aprilia 200cc scooter engine. This has resulted in a revision of the chassis to accommodate the new engine, it shares many of the same high tech component parts used on the  200cc auto scooter engine and will also be fuel injected using Magnetti Marelli’ s latest 16 bit ECU processor.  The new geared model boasts more power and will also be Euro 4 compliant with a potential release date also anticipated to be in 2018.
